i really like the new tree design, though i think "simple" will remain my default. can't beat its, um, simplicity. and usability.

the text-only one is a good concept, but i'm with erin - there's a reason sidebars are usually narrower than the main content area.

the first design is sharp. you're right about the length of text lines, that can be a little tricky to follow, otherwise looks good. i really like the colors and concept of the second design, the right side looks a little funny being so wide and the blogroll, etc. so thin. instead of dividing it in half, what about a 2/3 to 1/3 ratio? so have you decided that you need to redo camp's site yet? (sorry, just had to ask).

changed.

i also added <a href="#" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet('no_images'); return false;" rel="nofollow">another design</a> - this one completely text-based. no images were used.

of course, i stole the colors from colorburn. i would.

thanks,

re:wide screen: i restricted the width of the main content becuase long lines of text can be difficult to read. i could balance that by restricting the full page width so the page stays intact even on a wide screen...

maybe i'll expiriment some.

I like it. The edged branches look good and make for a rooted design with a feeling of symmetry and strength. The only flaw I see is that on wide screen the white space between the right side of the blog entry text and the right sidebard gets a bit too wide for my taste.
