And: I'd be happy to. On the other hand, I think I'd rather just drop the anonymity all together. Problem with linking to eric.meyerbros.org is it's all broken in tiny pieces these days, for lack of proper management (me).

Ha. I linked up some of those exact same Ilyka Damen posts in mine, and had very similar thoughts - they're doing very well what they should never have to do. Of course, that is true for the entire concept of feminism.

I have made a comment or two at IBTP and Ilyka, figuring I'm at least more advanced than some of the "dudes" - and can potentially help by not being a feelings-hurt guy, or even a defender of the feelings-hurt guys. On the other hand, I may be making an ass of myself by stating things that are obvious. Oh well.

I have wondered about doing some more focussed blogging of some sort around the patriarchy (I would mix in GLBT, probably, since it's the same misogyny at play).

The idea would be taking your post for men idea a step further, and making an entire blog out of it. Is this "making it all about men, by men, for men?" Or could we do it in such a way as to be bringing men up to speed on the basics, so they don't go trolling blogs like IBTP?

I don't think we could do it better, but I think we carry more responsibility for doing it.

On the other hand - my tendency isn't towards nice and gentle posts aimed at newbies, is there a need for angry straight white men out there? I sure hope so, it would make me feel so much more needed in this world that excludes me at every mumble mumble mumble.

Oh, and bro - since we've got a multiple-author blog here, if you're going to post pseudo-anonymously on other blogs, you mind linking back to eric.meyerbros.org instead of blog.meyerbros.org? What you said is great, but I'd still rather not foster confusion as to authorship.

hey bro,

This stuff's been my top reading for the last week too. In addition to I Blame The Patriarchy (which rocks), I've now also got Feministe, Ilyka Damen, Black Amazon, and The Shrub on my RSS reader. This morning I read through chapter 1 of Shulamith Firestone's The Dialectic of Sex - interesting and provocative, though I think I'm still too much of a "beginning blamer" to jump into the conversation at Twisty's.

So yesterday sunny afternoon, my pregnant feminist wife wanted to go for a walk. I said I wanted to go too, and then I delayed the whole process (and didn't really communicate with her about the delay, either) because I was trying to "quick finish up" reading the latest comments on the Ann Coulter thread at IBTP. The irony.

Yesterday after reading the Ann Coulter thread (complete with hurt-feelings liberal dudes) I was thinking I should write a post for men on simple guidelines for being an ally instead of a "take-care-of-my-feeling" ass. Then I followed a couple more links and saw that it's been done better already. By women, doing the work they shouldn't have to be doing to educate men. But it's great stuff, read it.
